TikTok videos teach you how to clean strawberries

The “strawberry bug trend” is a must-try now.

Check out these bugs!

TikTok user Thatnatchats user shared some really shocking videos. Some would use the word “disturbing.”

“I always ask my fan base for suggestions about what I should look at next and I’ve been getting a lot of comments about strawberries,” she explained. “I believed they wanted to see the seeds up close so I was very surprised to find bugs when looking at strawberries under a stereomicroscope.

I didn’t learn about how to properly wash the strawberries until my comment section became very fearful and asked how to wash them. Other people replied and I’ve heard salt water, vinegar, and many different methods I have never heard of before.”

This video attracted the attention of 2 million people. The user had “just” 40K followers. The nasty trend sure paid off.

“I was astonished that I had so many people seeing what I have seen. My family was taken back as well,” she said. “When I went to school the next day, I had a couple of people approach me and say that they had no idea I was so popular on Tiktok. My fans jumped from 40k to 300k.

It was crazy, to say the least, but everyone around me was very happy and proud that my passion for science and microscopes was being recognized.”

A good rinse will keep you safe from these bugs. Strawberries are healthy, and you really need to eat them as often as you can. But, please, wash your fruits well.

The saline solution kicks the bugs out of the fruit.

The tiny works are actually offspring of fruit flies known as the Spotted Wing Drosophila. Momma bugs lay their eggs inside almost ripe fruits. Strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries are their favorite.

You can use salt and vinegar to clean your fresh fruits. Soak your strawberries in the saline solution for 5-10 minutes. Rinse well! If you aren’t positive about the origin of your fresh produce, add white vinegar to the water. This will wash away the chemicals.

Keep in mind that salt dissolves better when added to warm water.

You eat “one to two pounds of flies, maggots, and other bugs each year without even knowing it.” That’s what Layla Eplett explained on the Scientific American Guest Blog. Don’t worry, you won’t die. But, it’s disgusting.

“If you’re eating fresh produce, you’re eating bugs,” Greg Loeb, an entomologist, and professor at Cornell University explains. “Sometimes we entomologists joke that, hey, it’s just a little bit more protein. But the real point is there are organisms on your fruit and even if it makes people uncomfortable, it’s definitely not going to hurt them. Eating those bugs won’t make you sick.”

These bugs don’t necessarily appear on every fruit you eat. Just keep washing your fresh produce. You can use water only.

The Internet went on fire, and users had hilarious reactions.
