The 2020 Australian Firefighter Calendar Is Here And It’s On Fire

The first Australian firefighter calendar was released in 1993. The real goal of this project was to contribute to the efforts of the Children’s Hospital Foundation. The initial effort to provide funds for research into childhood burns actually developed into a tradition.

You’d all agree that this is the most popular calendar on planet Earth. Featuring photos of firefighters from Australia’s Urban, Rural, Aviation, Armed Forces and Corporate firefighting services, this calendar has become an iconic project.

Honestly, the models are pretty handsome, and it’s even more powerful to note that they serve for a great cause.

Proceeds of last year’s calendar ended up in Down Syndrome South Australia, Kids With Cancer Foundation, Pets Of The Homeless Victoria, Youngcare QLD, Rural Aid Australia, Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, Precious Paws Animal Rescue and other organizations.

Every firefighter 3-week photoshoots. The best images are picked for the final look of the annual Australian Firefighter Calendar. In the last 27 years, the Australian firefighters raised more than $3 million. About $1.9 million of this money were donated in the past five years.

More than 130 firefighters filed applications for the calendar, and just 44 were photographed. The final product contains photos of 30 Australian firefighters.

Calendar director David Rogers says these firefighters train really hard throughout the year to earn a spot in the calendar. It’s interesting to note that they make a difference even without meeting the people who need their support the most.

Rogers notes that some of the firefighters do this to make their families proud. Others do that to enjoy support from organizations the calendar works with.

Have you seen the photos? The handsome firefighters pose with rescue animals, and the team shared a photo on Instagram, honoring the International Homeless Animals Day.

The photoshoots contribute in several ways. The 2020 cover models Simba and George found a home following the photoshoot.
